From Jar to Glass – Cool Weather Cocktails Perfect for Fall

Elevate your garnish game and create a new spin on old classic cocktails. This fall, CRMR Kitchen has partnered with our sister restaurant, Bar C, to share some delicious Caesar recipes that are perfect for crisp fall evenings or sipping on at Sunday bunch.

Originally created in Calgary in 1969 for a new Italian Restaurant, the Caesar is best known as a cool-weather drink or a way to warm up during a tasty Sunday brunch. No matter how they’re enjoyed, Caesars taste great when they are accompanied with delicious pickled garnishes.

Bar C Caesar Recipes

Recipe One: The Pickled Caesar

CRMR Kitchen-Pickled Vegetables-Caesar-Calgary-CRMRWhat you will need:

  • Tall Glass
  • Ice
  • Celery Salt
  • Chili Peppers
  • CRMR Pickled Veggies: Carrots, Fresno Chilis, Asparagus, Dill Pickles
  • Pickle juice from the CRMR Dill Pickle Jar
  • Vodka or Gin or Tequila (whatever your preference)
  • Tabasco Sauce
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Celery Bitters
  • Clamato Juice
  • Lime
  • Wooden Skewer

CRMR Kitchen-Pickled Vegetables-Caesar-Calgary-CRMRDirections:

  1. Dip the rim of the glass in pickle juice to moisten.
  2. When moistened, dip the rim into a shallow dish of celery salt to taste. To spice up the flavor, add chili peppers to the celery salt (optional).
  3. Fill glass with ice.
  4. Pour 1-1.5 ounces of Alcohol into glass.
  5. Pour ½ – 1 ounce of Pickle Juice over ice.
  6. Add 3-4 drops to Tabasco Sauce to glass.
  7. Add 4-6 drops of Worcestershire Sauce to glass.
  8. Add 2 drops of Celery Bitters to glass.
  9. Squirt lime juice into glass and place remaining slice on the side of the glass.
  10. Fill glass with Clamato Juice leaving space at the top for the garnishes (approx ½ inch).
  11. Slide the pickle and chili on the skewer stick and put asparagus directly in the glass.
  12. Slice halfway through the middle of the carrot and place on rim.
  13. Enjoy!

Recipe Two: The Red Wine Caesar

What you will need:

  • Tall Glass
  • Ice
  • Celery Salt
  • Chili Peppers (optional)
  • CRMR Pickled Veggies: Fresno Chilis, Dill Pickles, Red Beets
  • Pickle juice and Carrot juice
  • Lemon slice
  • Hendrix Gin/Gin of your choice
  • Tabasco Sauce
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Clamato Juice
  • Red Wine
  • Wooden Skewer
  • Cured meats – Salami, Duck Breast, Prosciutto

Directions:

  1. Dip the rim of the glass in pickle juice to moisten.
  2. When moistened, dip the rim into a shallow dish of celery salt to taste. To spice up the flavor, add chili peppers to the celery salt (optional).
  3. Fill glass with ice.
  4. Pour 1-1.5 ounces of Gin into glass.
  5. Pour ½ Pickle Juice and ½ ounce of carrot juice over ice.
  6. Add 2-4 drops to Tabasco Sauce to glass.
  7. Add 5-7 drops of Worcestershire Sauce to glass.
  8. Squirt lemon juice into glass and place remaining slice on the side of the glass.
  9. Fill glass with Clamato Juice leaving space at the top for the wine and garnishes (approx. 1 inch).
  10. Add a splash of wine to the top of the glass, ensuring there is still space for garnishes.
  11. Slide your chili, pickle, beet and cured meats onto skewer and put in glass.
  12. Enjoy!
