Life is busy, so it’s no surprise that finding time for a romantic date night can often slip through the cracks. Between work, family and evening activities, couples often find themselves going for months without a romantic evening set in the calendar. Luckily, with a few easy and creative ideas from the CRMR Kitchen, date night can become a regular occurrence once again!

Whether it’s preparing a tasty charcuterie board for two, or making a delicious meal to enjoy together the next time you have the house to yourself, here are a few ideas that will help to rekindle the flame.

3 Easy Steps for the Perfect Date Night:

1. Prepare some Delicious Charcuterie for Two

The best part about charcuterie is that it’s easy to pull together in the comfort in your own home, and often requires just a quick stop at the local butcher shop.

Ingredients needed:

Simply arrange your plate or board with the above ingredients, and for some serious style points, try slicing the cheese at an angle for nice presentation. Depending on your preference, you can also try pairing different items on a baguette slice to see what combinations are your favorite. 2. Cook and enjoy a new dinner recipe together

After enjoying a charcuterie platter together, move date night to the kitchen to create a delicious dish that you will both love:

Grilled Elk Tenderloin with CRMR Kitchen Red Wine Demi Glaze served with Beet & New Potato Salad

What you will need:

750g Elk Tenderloin (can be substituted with beef or bison)

2/3 cup of CRMR Kitchen Red Wine Demi Glaze

For Salad:

2/3 cup Diced CRMR Kitchen Pickled Red Beets

2/3 cup Baby New Potatos, fully cooked, sliced

1/3 cup Toasted Hazelnuts

1/3 cup Crumbled Goat Cheese

1 tbsp Chopped Dill

2 tbsp Chopped Green Onion

For Dressing:

4 tbsp Olive Oil

2 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar

1 tbsp Honey

Salt and Pepper to taste



  1. Cut elk tenderloin into 4 steaks, or ask your butcher to do this step in the store. We suggest visiting Second To None Meats for elk or beef tenderloin.
  2. Season elk tenderloin with salt and pepper. Heat grill or BBQ to 380°F. Sear one side before flipping. Cook each side until desired doneness is achieved. We recommend cooking elk to medium rare, which is an internal temperature of 140°F.
  3. Remove tenderloin and let rest for five minutes before serving.
  4. Heat CRMR Kitchen Red Wine Demi Glaze in a separate pan over medium heat to a simmer.
  5. Combine dressing with all salad ingredients in a bowl except the goat cheese. Season to taste.
  6. Serve dish by placing salad on a plate and sprinkle with crumbled goat cheese. Place elk tenderloin on plate with salad and drizzle with red wine demi glaze.
  7. Enjoy!

Wine pairing suggestions for the evening that go well with charcuterie and elk tenderloin:

  • Chianti Classico, such as Fontodi or Felsina.
  • Sangiovese – the acid profile is refreshing and prepares your palate for another bite
  • Cotes du Rhone, such as Beaucastel, Chapoutier and Mordoree
  • Grenache, such as McLaren Vale or Brash Higgins

3. Light some candles, open a bottle of wine and enjoy each other’s company for the evening.

Light some candles, pour a glass of wine and enjoy some quiet time together. Leave the dishes and cleaning up for tomorrow, and go to bed as early or as late as you like. No catching a cab, paying a sitter, or trying to talk in a noisy, crowded restaurant or bar.
